Washington DC day 4---We finally got out and explored. We toured the Capital Building, the National Archives (no pictures allowed...saw the original Declaration of Independence, Bill of Rights, and the Constitution of the US), and a few museums. Lots of walking today!!!

There are 2 statues for each state. The state decides which important person from that state represents them at the capital.

Washington DC day 3---Kind of a quiet day. The above ground metro rail and many tourist attractions were closed due to the storm. I am learning a lot about DC...we witnessed the 7th worst snow storm on record and this storm left the most amount of snow ever received in December. The normal snow fall in December is 1-2 inches. This storm left 16-24 inches of snow. A local told us that an inch of snow usually closes schools and that people in DC don't know how to drive in snow. Wow, that is what they normally say about Californians!

Today, we were only able to go to Union Station (they have shops and food there) and we also were able to see play at the Kennedy Center.

Washington DC day 2---Well, we are here in an historic town during an historic snow storm. It is incredible and beautiful. We found the only museum open today, the Newseum. We walked in the snow a few blocks, jumped on the Metro (the subway), and then walked a few more blocks to get there. It was so fun having a snowball fight all the way there.

Washington DC day 1----We landed tonight just as it started to snow. We have now heard that they have closed the airport. We walked a few blocks in the snow to a restaurant. It was fun and beautiful. Can't wait to see how much snow we wake up to in the morning.

Lots of rain in So Cal this week
We live pretty high up above the valley that during one of the storms, the clouds moved in and covered up the mountain that we live next too.
After one of the storms, we caught this beautiful shot of clouds and colors in the sky.

Kari joined a traveled softball team called the Smashers. Our first tournament was in Palm Springs at the Big League Dreams Park (a ball field for kids that are replicas of major league ball parks like Fenway and Wrigley). Kari is the youngest on her team as an 8th grader. All of her teammates are on their high school softballs teams.

Kari made two outs at home!

The Smashers came in 2nd place in the tournament of 10 teams.
